Every queer person I know lives in fear of being assaulted because of who they are. Don’t hold hands or show affection in public. Don’t talk about your same-sex partner to strangers. Always be vigilant. In 2019 I was attacked by a man in a hotel lobby because I’m gay. It’s not getting better.
