Because ultimately it's all a racket. For rich people to bump elbows, for corporations to advertise, for industry practices to be validated, and of course for Geoff to ride other people's coattails. Genuinely I don't believe the people running it actually play or care about games.

Lots of issues in the world are very nuanced, and will take time and long deliberation on how to fix.
