Aaaaaah I am overtired and misunderstood. You mentioned immigration which I thought was typical admin law hearing type thing. Thanks for the correction.

I do also understand the relaxed rules of evidence, bc you can't prejudice a jury when there isn't one, and theoretically an ALJ should know how to appropriately weigh evidence (see Universal Camera v NLRB for a banger of a Felix Frankfurter opinion on this topic).

I'm at a state agency, not federal, and I definitely do see the value in the administrative hearing process (having ALJs who essentially specialize in a certain area of law). But yeah there is a definite need for due process, transparency, resources, etc.

Idk if it's from traveling over the weekend, starting PT again, work stress, holiday stress, or what. I'm just exhausted this week.

So uh if you have a machine that pauses time so I can get 10 hours of sleep a night for the next few nights, I'd love to borrow that.

Oooooh I was thinking Potato Bar for an upcoming dinner but now I'm like. Garbage plate bar.

The kids can have plain french fries and/or tater tots, I'm putting ground beef, sautéed onions, and obscene amounts of mustard on mine.

I used to teach 7th grade and even though it's been almost 20 years, I still have a reflex which is to say, very calmly, "That's inappropriate and you need to stop."

It has served me well. Highly recommend that script.

(Just on Bluesky. I am sadly not at a conference right now. Because yeah of course I'm the type of nerd who loves conferences.)

There are some things my brain is really, really good at.

And then there is my perception check modifier, which is like a -8.

It's a good thing I like tweed so I can really fill the absentminded professor stereotype.

Like ok yeah there are multiple areas of law involved and Torts generally are very state-specific but I'm talking generally here. Reasonably foreseeable that people don't always operate forklifts 100% within every safety rule.

There's probably not enough quinine to be and issue but uh I do not drink it anyway just in case.

As a government attorney (state, not federal), I think this is an amazing project.

We should ALL be held to high standards as we serve the public, and our service should be transparent.

But at least the hydroxychloroquine will be effective for this one??????

... that's it that's the best I got.
