Our charity is proud to:

🥾Break down barriers to walking
👟Fight for the places we love to walk
🗺️Champion access rights
🚶🏽‍♀️ Run 3,500 group walks a year across Scotland

ramblers.org.uk/scotland
Quality trails = more healthy, happy walking people. 🚶

So we're shocked to learn that ScotGov’s post-Brexit farm subsidy system will fail to replace lost funding for paths and access. ➡️ www.ramblers.org.uk/post-brexit-...

Scotland will be left with the worst funding for outdoor access in Britain.🤦🏻‍♀️

Separately, we're seeking new members for our Access Sub-Committee.

The committee works to ensure our world-class access rights are protected in reality, not just on paper. 🚫

For an informal chat or to request further info, contact @gavincorbett.bsky.social or email gavin.corbett@ramblers.org.uk.

Big thanks to ministers, MSPs, MPs, councillors, candidates and members at #SNP25 for filling up our map of favourite walks. From mountain top to coast, woodland and river; from city to country, the map shows just how rich our walking opportunities are!

The MSP for East Lothian Paul Maclennan at #SNP25 had powerful personal testimony on the health benefits of recreational walking and the huge asset of the John Muir Way which starts in his constituency
October 13, 2025 at 1:54 PM
Cabinet Secretary for Housing Mairi McAllan highlighted the Southern Upland Way as one her favourite paths at #SNP25 and shared views on the importance of getting outside for recreation as a community benefit as well as for health and wellbeing.
October 13, 2025 at 1:45 PM
Depute first minister @kateforbes.bsky.social has probably the best constituency in Scotland for mountains and walks and highlighted Glen Affric as a particularly favourite place to walk in nature #SNP25
October 13, 2025 at 11:45 AM
The cabinet secretary for finance @shonarobison.bsky.social popped by during a busy time at #SNP25. The Scottish Budget deals with over £50 billion of spend. In our manifesto for 2026 we argue that a tiny investment in a Scottish Paths Fund could go a long way. Ramblers.org.uk/scotmanifesto

Great to speak to @jennimintomsp.bsky.social minister for public health and women’s health about the clear relationship between outdoor recreation and physical and mental health at #SNP25

Government minister @mareetodd.bsky.social has been a longstanding supporter of the daily mile and the health benefits of outdoor recreation and spoke to us powerfully at #SNP25 on the emotional pull of the outdoors for people.
October 12, 2025 at 4:37 PM
Thanks to Cabinet Secretary for Climate Action and Energy @gillianamartin.bsky.social for visiting our stand at #SNP25 and recognising the value of paths into nature.

The landowner in the Glen Lyon access case has told local media: “The hill is open and anyone can take access."

Yet, below is walker and author Iain Cameron's recent photo from the estate.

We hope that the council will use its powers to get this resolved, quick.

Scottish Outdoor Access Code recognises that specific routes may need managed for 🦌 stalking on specific days, but NOT unreasonable blanket bans like this.

Section 14 of Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 gives councils power to remove non-compliant signs.

@perthandkinross.bsky.social must act now.
October 7, 2025 at 4:24 PM
⛰ Glen Lyon access must be fixed.

We’ve written to @perthandkinross.bsky.social, calling on it to urgently require a landowner to remove ‘No Walking’ signs at popular Perthshire Munros.⛔

North Chesthill Estate in Glen Lyon is trying to stop walkers accessing its 4 Munros during all of Sept & Oct.

🤦🏼More access problems in Glen Lyon, Perthshire.

North Chesthill Estate is trying to stop access to 4 popular Munros for all of Sept & Oct.

#ScottishOutdoorAccessCode accepts managing routes on specific days for 🦌 stalking, but NOT unreasonable blanket bans.

We've asked council staff to intervene.
