Already one year since our EAA session in Rome on 'de-sacralisation' of religious sites in the Roman world, from Britain to Egypt. Meanwhile we found a publisher, sorted out a possible book cover, and are currently waiting for the finished papers from all our contributors. Out in print 2026.

I visited the amzing Prehistoric Museum of Penmarc'h in Britanny in 2018. Just a few impressions. I just found out that it closed in 2019 and its future is uncertain. There's a petition to save it: www.change.org/p/sauvons-le...

For all friends of #Roman #pottery, photos from a visit to the Terra Sigillata #Museum in Rheinzabern (Roman vicus Tabernae) with its pottery production: from home-made to industrial-scale production in Roman times. Worth a visit!
To be recommended!
And so much more than just pottery!

The amazing #IronAge #hillfort of Tre'r Ceiri in #Wales (S of Caernarfon) at a height of almost 500 metres, surrounded by the sea on either sides. Surviving walls, gateways, c.150 huts still visible. The peak of occupation was in the 2nd-1st c. BCE, but continued to be occupied in Roman times.

Visiting the #Roman fort of Segontium, occupied from the 1st to the 4th century. It is situated on a slope, overlooking the medieval town of Caernarfon (Wales) and the Menai Strait. Great place.

The amazing #IronAge #hillfort of Foel Drygarn with more than 200 hut platforms, the ramparts and gate. It was built around 3 Bronze Age #cairns. Located in the Preseli Mountains near Crymych, with nice views over Cardigan Bay.

Some impressions of the amazing Museo della Civiltà Romana (Museum of #Roman #Civilization) in E.U.R., #Rome from a visit in 2008, which contains key monuments to document Roman civilisation (only copies, but still fascinating). The museum has unfortunately been closed 'for renovation' since 2014.

For my first post on Bluesky, some photos of a visit to the late #antique #Roman villa of Ungstein in Upper Germany. Amazing #archaeological site including Roman bath, wine press, stables, lapidarium,... Worth a visit! Situated on the Rhine, just 20km SW of Worms / Borbetomagus.
