You're not wrong. I think many assume the Insurrection Act will be called regardless - they'll just invent a reason. But I'll remind you the US couldn't really hold Iraq and definitely couldn't hold Afghanistan.

I think the US is coming. Mind you we couldn't hold Iraq really and definitely not Afghanistan. But our conservatives just don't seem to grasp long-term responsibilities or consequences.

They should be organizing and participating in mass protests. Actual leadership.

Thanks for this ❤️

I don't disagree. I just don't see us getting a majority on board. If we want democratic socialism we need a *lot* more education and public outreach.

"poorly trained" starts the conversation with middle-of-the-road and even right voters. We live in a democracy - we need them or we will lose. "Poorly trained" opens the conversation then to: "are they simply untrainable".

Could you elaborate? Neo-liberalism strikes me as a pragmatic compromise. Like an economic cold war between left and right vs outright bloodshed.

To be fair, it's holding up pretty well as old pieces of paper go. But the concepts depended on an active, informed populace to enforce. Even now people are more concerned with the Superbowl than the fall of the nation.

(1) Democrats have to deal with what people *think* is true and will vote for, not what is actually true (2) the 'Defund' crowd so horribly mangled their PR that the concept is political poison. If Democrats even hint at defunding it will be an immediate loss at midterms.

"the response by activists" ... Do tell. What actions would make anyone uncomfortable? One side has guns, the other frog costumes. I think you're just trying to justify cowardice.

Sounds like you want something from Big Finish

I'll just say the quiet part out loud: the key to using Linux is to have a second PC running Windows so you can Google whatever you want to do in Linux. The command line approach works best when you already know what you want to do. For exploring a new task a good UI is generally more natural.

You gotta be done with all things Zuckerverse. Nothing over there is worth the compromise.

I concur. IMHO we've spent decades voting for politicians and parties that were highly optimized for one thing: elections. And they've sacrificed most all other essential skills to that end. They're now like the 'guild navigators' in Dune, unable to function in normal life.

💯 It's absolutely maddening that people don't see this.

I think progressives have to abandon the wildly naive belief that you can affect social change through the court system. Courts are a reflection of social values not the cause. The civil rights movement *caused* Brown vs Board (and others), not the other way around.

The issue is that deliberately placing themselves in front of vehicles as a ruse to justify deadly force is a known tactic. The agent that murdered Renee Good is from the Border Patrol where this tactic is used.

Nicely done!

Ummm please get off X. You are only providing cover to their propaganda machine.
