You draw so much, too, so that must be really daunting! I’m always like, “I’ll get to it later… I missed the best time to post anyway…” and before I know it, months have passed 💀

And I definitely intend to share my thoughts about it! I have vendor friends who are curious about it and the idea of being able to be vendors there, and tbh I’m curious too. I have a feeling that traveling all the way to Japan just to be a vendor would mean a pretty slim profit margin for me tho

I’m excited to see what JMoF is like too, and how it’s different! I’ve never been to a furry con outside of North America, and I intend to splurge on the artists in the dealer’s den if I can (better than getting more plastic crap I don’t need in Akihabara… though there will be time for that, too)

I do often wonder what life would have been like if I had been more serious about studying Japanese and stayed in Japan. But following this path led me to a lot of other great things, and I can still study Japanese as a hobby. I’m very grateful and lucky that I get to do what I love most for my job.

Ultimately I decided I would move back to the states to pursue art full time. I figured that if I was still making time for it, even when I was in Japan, then there was no more denying what I really wanted to do with my life.
My new goal became “do whatever it takes to keep making comics”.

I went through my entire school career believing I would become fluent in Japanese and become a translator. When I got into moved to Japan to become a teaching assistant, I thought, “I finally made it!” But it wasn’t enough.
I lived an hour from Tokyo and I still spent my free time making comics…

Rebooted Slightly Damned as a solo project because I was also into webcomics at the time. Very much had a “if they can do it, so can I” kind of attitude. The habit of drawing weekly comics stuck so hard I kept at it through high school, college, and becoming a JET in Japan.

Grew up in the Bay Area and was exposed to anime and the internet at a young age in the late 90s. Became a total weeb. Wrote fanfics and drew fanart incessantly until drawing my own original creations became more appealing again in high school. Made a prototype Slightly Damned for a group project.
