Service workers from the South gathered in Selma to honor our movement ancestors. On the Edmund Pettus Bridge, we felt their courage—and carry it with us. From Selma to Louisiana, we march for immigrant rights and justice for all. The fight isn’t over. #SolidaritySummer

Today we kicked off the Justice Journey from Durham, NC heading down to Louisiana with 100s of workers from across the country.

We’re standing up for our union siblings unjustly detained by ICE.

Hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians would be put in jeopardy—just to pay for tax breaks for billionaires. We’re not having it.

We depend on Medicaid, the ACA, and SNAP to survive. We won’t let politicians trade our lives for corporate profits without a fight.

We know what’s at stake: our healthcare, food assistance, and communities. This bill would:
❌ Kick 10.9M people off health insurance
❌ Slash funding for health centers & rural hospitals
❌ Gut nearly $300B from SNAP

🧵 We stood with community allies to rally and march outside the offices of Senators Thom Tillis and Ted Budd, demanding they vote NO on the Big Really Bad Bill. #ProtectMedicaid #HandsOffMedicaid #OrganizeTheSouth

The sit-down strike and actions that would occur after, primarily organized and led by Black women who processed the Tobacco, were instrumental in winning the workers better conditions and wages. 5/8

Their movement united Black and white workers with a multiracial alliance from the larger Winston-Salem community. Organizing in North Carolina’s Tobacco industry started on June 17, 1943, with a sit-down strike at the R.J. Reynold company. 4/8

Because when one of us is disrespected, all of us are. And there are more of us than there are of them.

We’re standing up and we’re NOT backing down. #UnionsForAll

At Waffle House, we work in fear of violence, of being disrespected, and of being discarded without a second thought. We’re done with that.

We’re demanding 24/7 security, a seat at the table, and wages we can live on.

After delivering our strike notice directly to the Waffle House CEO this morning, we took the fight to the Windy Hill Rd. store where FIVE workers walked off the job to demand: safety, $25/hour, and an end to unfair meal deductions. #OrganizeTheSouth

Waffle House workers deserve safety on the job and a seat at the table to shape the plans that protect us. We’re not asking. We’re organizing.

We are taking the fight to the Windy Hill store in Marietta, GA, where FIVE workers are walking out on STRIKE.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of today’s actions.

This morning, we delivered a strike notice directly to Waffle House CEO Joe Rogers III at corporate HQ. We’re demanding the same safe working conditions they have on their corporate campus, the ones they hide behind to keep US out. #UnionsForAll #OrganizeTheSouth
