My favorite Reguri headcanon that they were absolute babies as kids and Green decided to teach himself Sign in order in his words “To be the best Hater” but reality is puppy love. Red was in the know. Since age 6 he been hearing wedding bells whenever Green signs to him lmfao.

Ok here it goes - I’m gonna try to articulate why I think #jayvik is so canonically full of devotion and romantic love, and just my overall reading of their arc. Apologies for any repetition and part 5 of the essay is in this thread!
Essay on Jayce and Viktor’s dynamic - part 1/5 If one were to read Jayce & Viktor’s dynamic in a limited way, one could say that at its core, it follows a standard ‘best friend to enemies to best friends’ arc: two friends who drift due to differing ideologies - one thrives, one’s left behind. They become enemies before settling their differences through shared commitment to good, ultimately reuniting. The ‘bros of science’ reading hinges on this limited interpretation. Jayce and Viktor see the error in their ways and return to their original dream of helping people. But while this perspective technically doesn’t misconstrue canon, it misses a lot of the depth and immense devotion that makes Jayvik’s dynamic so steeped in love. This isn’t to say the points above on friendship and ideology aren’t true, they are! But the dynamic is so much more than this, and it’s reductive to dismiss aspects of the story that lend to Jayvik being so much more than just ‘a partnership turned sour that redeems itself’. Without the nuances incorporated into the storytelling and animation, Jayce could easily just have been ‘ambitious neglectful friend who… Part 2/5 loses sight of the core of his dream’. Viktor could have only been a ‘good guy who loses his way and is corrupted’ character. It is the details that differentiate their story and make it stand out. Jayce doesn’t (just) neglect Viktor. He is also totally devoted to him, determined to celebrate his intelligence. Once he finds out that V is dying, J’s determined to save him, making political manoeuvres to protect him. In s2, J resurrects V, and tries to save V from himself (even through murder). We understand J’s devotion even more when he reveals that while he killed V to try to save the world, he was doing this on behalf of Magevik - ie FOR Viktor. Once he has his Viktor back. Jayce is determined to join him in death. Viktor’s devotion to Jayce is also constant throughout the narrative. Saving Jayce multiple times, including as a child even at the risk of destroying the world. His desire for J to join him in the glorious evolution shows his deep affection for him. His commitment to J is everywhere. Part 3/5 Their actions make their dynamic so much deeper, more loving and profound. Rather than only being ‘the friends who become enemies then friends again due to differing ideologies being settled’, Jayce and Viktor’s arcs can be read as a soulmates/lovers story where almost all their actions are determined by the state of the other In my opinion, a more holistic perspective on Jayvik goes something like this: Jayce and Viktor meet and instantly connect. They forge a partnership and become best friends. J is idealistic and gets swept up in fame and V is worried about his health. BOTH are desperate to save people Viktor is devoted to Jayce and Jayce is to Viktor. But Viktor’s love (could be) repressed when he sees that J is infatuated with M Despite J being swept up in politics, when he discovers V is ill, his focus shifts to primarily caring about V’s wellbeing. He politically manoeuvres outcomes to ensure V’s safety and wishes are met. Part 4/5 But it’s s2 when the soulmate arc is cemented. When V loses his life, J can’t bear the thought of losing him. J can’t live without him - he tries to resurrect Viktor and waits for him to wake up. He then acts on Mage Viktor’s wishes, before finally declaring his one true wish is to have his partner back - to me, this follows the arc of a lover willing to do anything for their true love, needing to be near them and displaying total commitment to them. It reminds me of stories like Orpheus and Eurydice, with an underlying romantic soulmate thread that’s full of devotion. Viktor similarly is determined to have Jayce join him. His heartbreak at J’s rejection and violence, coupled with the revelation that Mage Viktor has been dooming timelines all to spend a few years with Jayce. HE IS OBSESSED YOUR HONOUR LMAO Their final scene is a declaration of their shared, undying love, and fuelled by romantic cues in the animation, serves as a love confession and a tragic, love filled union.
