Happy International Workers' Day!

This May Day, join your tenants' union.

https://rahu.org.au/join
Join
Any renter seeking to improve their tenancy should join as a member of RAHU. RAHU is a member-run union, comprised of renters, homeowners, and people in unstable housing (non-owners). Collectively RAHU organises for the right to safe and secure housing, through self-advocacy, education, and eviction defence. Renters and people in precarious housing are welcome from all industries, ethnicities and identities. There is an urgent need to address the power imbalance between renters and property owners. ### Together we can: * Educate and share information about our rights as renters and people in unstable housing * Support and defend each other from eviction * Represent ourselves in negotiations and tribunals * Build a long-term community of renters to navigate common issues Learn more about RAHU and how we formed. _A person is not eligible to be admitted as a member if they are a landlord, real estate agent, property manager, social housing provider, police officer, bailiff or sheriff._ (_refer to constitution_) * * * Join the union by filling out the form below. You may be contacted by a Delegate, and will receive email instructions on how to get in touch and be involved. You can join as a renter or someone in other precarious housing. This may include couch surfing, public community housing, homelessness, or living with family. **PLEASE NOTE:** _Our Volunteer team are here to support members with self advocacy, advise on renters rights, and check rent increases. They are NOT emergency support, lawyers, or punching bags._ _The Renters Rights Committee is made up of members of the union who volunteer our time to give advice on our rights as renters. Support is an act of solidarity by rank and file members. We are not lawyers and this is not a service._ You must join RAHU and be a financial member in order to enquire with the Renters Rights Committee as we only have capacity to support members at this time. We can help new members with existing issues within reason, but for issues outside of our capacity another service may be more appropriate. _For more information check out theRenters Rights Resources page._ ****By joining RAHU, you agree to a minimum membership term of 6 months.**** If you’re experiencing financial hardship and cannot afford dues, or wish to change your details or membership level, please reach out to our Membership Officer at [email protected] for assistance.
