Super cool via @nature.com: Up to now, the earliest bone tools were found in European sites dated to 400–250,000 years ago. But tools dated to 1.5 million years ago have now been found at Olduvai Gorge, Tanzania. Large bones from hippopotamus and elephant were shaped, sometimes for long implements.
