Yasuke, the black Samurai, featured in the children's novel Kuro-suke by Yoshio Kurusu in 1943.

It features a fictionalized account of Yasuke's life in #Japan under Nobunaga. It received the Japanese Association of Writers for Children Prize in 1969.

The statue has been here for such a long time that it looks like she is a part of the forest now (But she looks ageless). Congo Rainforest. Tall trees from one end of the frame to another. Her exact origins are unclear, but it seems Mami Wata first came into existence during the Transatlantic slave trade. She's regarded as "foreign", which may be linked to the journey of Africans to unknown lands by water. She was as feared as she was admired. Over the years inspirations ranging from "The Sirens, Isis, Cleopatra, the Mona Lisa, Shiva, the Virgin Mary, Lady Godiva" and others have been incorporated into her lore. The Yoruba have one of the highest rates of twinning in the world, at 45–50 twin sets (or 90–100 twins) per 1k live births. This is possibly due to high consumption of a specific type of yam containing a natural phytoestrogen which may stimulate the ovaries to release an egg from each side

*The Yoruba people are a West African ethnic group that mainly inhabit parts of Nigeria, Benin, and Togo. Yoruban Beliefs About Twins: Ibeji is the name of an Orisha (spirit) representing a pair of twins in the Yoruba religion. In the diasporic Yoruba spirituality of Latin America, Ibeji are syncretized with Saints Cosmas and Damian. In Yoruba culture and spirituality, twins are believed to be magical, and are granted protection by the Orisha Shango. If one twin should die, it represents bad fortune for the parents and the society to which they belong. The parents therefore commission a babalawo to carve a wooden Ibeji to represent the deceased twin, and the parents take care of the figure as if it were a real person. Masquerade Element (Omama): Ram's Head, 17th–19th century Nigeria; Yoruba, Owo subgroup. IMAGE: Ram's head carved in wood. Horns have decorative long v-shaped lines carved into it. Two wide, almost angry looking eyes. 3 Small clusters of decorative holes above its eyes and one long section in the middle of its face. 2 almost Celtic-knot looking knots on either side of the nose. This spectacular ivory vessel was once the treasured possession of an olowo, the ruler of the Yoruba kingdom of Owo in present-day southern Nigeria. IMAGE: Ivory chalice/cup with decorative images people carved around at the top (probably a ruler with subjects on either side of them), followed by 2 lines of decorative dots beneath, followed by a scene of some sort beneath that. As early as the fifteenth century, the Yoruba kingdom of Ijebu was a major brass-casting center that cast metalworks for a wide range of courtly and religious contexts. "The New York Times reported on October 18, 2007 that the language spoken in Palenquero is thought to be the only Spanish-based Creole language still alive worldwide and the grammar is so different from Spanish, that Spanish speakers cannot understand it. The language Palenquero was influenced by the Kikongo language of Congo and Angola, and also by Portuguese. Exact information on the different roots of Palenquero is still lacking, and there are different theories of its origin. Today fewer than half of the community’s 3,000 residents still speak Palenquero." "(in 2015) A linguist born in Palenquero was compiling a lexicon for the language and others were assembling a dictionary of Palenquero." In 2005 the village was declared Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Palenque is also considered the first free town in the Americas. The Lemba are an ethnic group found in Zimbabwe & South Africa.

Their genetics reveal they have a specific marker, the Cohen Modal Haplotype, which indicates Jewish ancestry.

The Coburg Moor (patron saint of the German city since the mid-1300s) was banned in Nazi Germany. In 1934, it was replaced by a coat of arms featuring a sword with a swastika in the pommel. The original coat of arms was restored in 1945. #Nazis #Nazism #BlackSky #History

The House of the Blackheads (Latvia. Built 1334) is a building constructed by the Brotherhood of Blackheads, a 14th c. guild for unmarried merchants, shipowners & foreigners in Riga, Latvia.

One of their principal saints was Saint Maurice 👉🏽

African inspired kimono. Tan and brown kimono with abstract shapes, perhaps flowers in some spots. Multicolored diagonal sash going around the shoulders and waist. African inspired kimono. Light green with brown and yellow designs. A sash in different shades and tints of red going around the waist horizontally. Model marries a sort of purse that looks like an African mask - carved in wood with two abstract eyes and a mouth with diagonal teeth. She holds it from a large, circular black handle. Reddish brown kimono with various tan colored abstract designs - Some smaller, some larger - Lines, flowers, etc. Sash around waist in a tomato red color with a more abstract tan designs. Model's hair has a large tan bundle of leaves. Model is wearing same kimono as in picture just before this (description included). She now also has a brown scarf tied around her head with minimal tan designs and carries an African statue, that's the size of a medium-sized doll. Phylogeny (Family Tree) of wolves, foxes, dogs and related animals. Southern Ethiopian Wolf. Looks like a mix between a fox and a dog (rather than a wolf). It's red and white, with pointy ears. Hald laying down in a field of tall brown grass. African Grey Wolf (Which is distinct from the the African Golden Wolf/Jackal). More wolf-looking. Short haired, grey and tan body with black tipped tail.
