In 1917 Jacb Schiff donated $100,000 to fund a retirement program for rabbis. But the Rabbinical Pension Board wasn’t created until 1944. What happened during those intervening 27 years? See my forthcoming article i the CCAR Journal.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Rabbi Jonathan Stein whose funeral is today. I first got to know him in San Diego and then later when we were both in New York. May his memory be an abiding blessing for all those who knew him.
