This might show my age a tad, but I've always thought the exact same thing about Final Fantasy 7.

6 fails the same way 7 does, IMO. The character differences don't actually matter because in 6 the objective answer is always to pump Magic (even Sabin's Blitz is mag-based in the original, IIRC).

Aside: when people say that ALL mainstream media orgs are on his side, remember NPR. They've been the only ones to continue to consistently and bluntly say when the president is lying, etc.

I'm not law enforcement, so it isn't my job to stop others from breaking the law. If you want laws, you have to figure out how the *government* can enforce them, IMO.

If I am clearly ENCOURAGING breaking the law in my building, then sure, I'm somewhat guilty too. But it should be blatant/explicit.

He's already on video from his first term suggesting that we take guns from people when they're suspected of something and then give them back later.
November 30, 2025 at 9:21 PM
You know the point they were making. Don't play stupid. Clinton got 3m more votes than Trump, so this whole "America is too sexist to vote for women" trope is a lazy bullshit excuse to avoid women candidates (and, yes, Mrs. Obama was wrong and said something stupid).

Russia can't even outright win against Ukraine. They're not invading the U.S. any time soon.
November 30, 2025 at 1:10 PM
Yes. And it's for exactly the reason(s) you stated. It's going to get harder and harder to access old books, movies, etc. And even if "they" allow us to pay to stream them in the future, they'll be constantly edited and censored. Don't let them take away your access to information!
November 30, 2025 at 12:44 PM
The best part: no internet connection. No DLC, no pay-to-win, no half-finished games released, etc.
November 29, 2025 at 6:03 PM
Lol. It took a lot of probing from you before you could latch onto something with which to build your bad-faith straw man argument. You know that's not what I said, but why are you looking for a reason to argue with me? Am I falling for a bot stirring up shit for engagement? 😅

I meant the influences of the Mormon church and the military, yeah. When I was in it as a child, I remember being told that, as a scout, it was expected/assumed that I believed in "a higher power." I'll never forget that.

I like to err on the side of less indoctrination.
November 25, 2025 at 2:07 PM
Good. I was in (Boy) Scouts as a young man. It's never been perfect, but it was an overall positive experience for me and provided growth opportunities that other groups just didn't/don't. But, I was glad when the Mormon church distanced itself, and I'll be glad if the military does the same.

Maybe these companies will stop BRAGGING about firing humans so that "X% of new code written is written by AI!"
November 19, 2025 at 1:25 AM
Absolutely. Even if the company thought there was a market for $100 "finished" games, they wouldn't actually do it. I was just thinking hypothetically.
November 18, 2025 at 5:02 PM
I remember new SNES games being around $50 in 1990's dollars. So, $70 for a game today is honestly peanuts compared to "back in the day". So, maybe complete games with no bullshit future-revenue streams would/should cost more than $70.
November 18, 2025 at 4:37 PM
Indeed. Even with hacks and cheats to skip grinding, the bigger frustrations are often more fundamental: tedious menus, lack of in-game info (item/spell descriptions, some mechanics, etc), way too high encounter rates, etc.

I'm an Emacs + evil.el user for quite some time. I've tried all the file-tree plugins and I always still miss the ones in various mainstream IDEs. They just don't seem to ever fit/feel quite right.

Of course it will come back, because we live in a system that naturally games itself into two parties. They already exist and have infrastructure. The name and party won't die, but MAYBE it'll be a different party at heart, like how Democrats are no longer Confederates. I doubt it, though...

I had no idea Redox was even close to being able to do this. Extremely impressive!

You meant to type: "Do you want to opt OUT of data collection? Don't worry- if you do, we'll helpfully re-enable it on the next update."
November 16, 2025 at 5:22 PM
To clarify: I'm saying Thune will try to NOT have a vote at all in the Senate. But, the pressure MIGHT eventually force them to hold a vote. Even then, I bet it would be filibustered, and whether the filibuster ends or not, I don't believe it'll make it to Trump's desk.
November 16, 2025 at 3:21 PM
I bet it won't pass the Senate. But, before then, Thune is going to obstruct and delay and make excuses about how they can't be released anyway because of just-announced ongoing investigations. That investigation will take at least until 11/2026, and possibly until after 11/2028.

On the other hand, I'm enough of a nerd that I actually DO enjoy playing old, relevant, games to experience the evolution of the games. It helps that I'm old enough to have played NES games when they were still new/current. It would be hard if you've been "spoiled" by modern games first.
November 16, 2025 at 2:57 PM
Agreed. For example, I played the original Final Fantasy on NES. Beat it many times over the years. But, today there's no (gameplay) reason to play it over the Pixel Remaster version. The original is RELEVANT, and was good for the time, but not objectively good by today's standards.
