And another thing: it's called Trust and Safety because, imagine using a list to block users and trusting the list's creator and that list creator turns out to be an asshat and does stupid things... It's unusable, not scalable and not an excuse for the platform to be bad at moderation.
I stumbled upon this clown, saw his posts, saw the name of his lists and decided i want nothing to do with this slur slinging asshollery. Just to be clear, this is what i was referring to for Flight 5.
Starship Flight 5 re-entry start. The plasma lights up everything in red, the side of the ship is still smooth. Starship Flight 5 re-entry sometime close to max heating. It's orbital dawn and the coloring is more blue, but now there's a crease and what looks like a burn though on the side of the ship.

And then saying a thing that would age badly faster, than this book published. Yeah.. How about endorsing Trump, fucking up the US government, having the most predictable narcissistic fall out ever and alienating fucking everyone?
Just as great individuals have great strengths, however, they have great weaknesses. Some of these failings have been on display in his running of Twitter/X: the vanity, the vindictiveness, and the double-talk about freedom of speech while curbing views he does not like. Social media is not rocket science, and Musk does not seem to be very good at running a company that does it. Moreover, Musk’s purchase of Twitter has deepened his addiction to the service and, for complicated reasons, pushed him further from a Libertarian outlook into far-right conservatism and conspiracy theory mongering. Musk is absolutely entitled to his political opinions, but he is not required to share them or let them guide his decision-making at Twitter. He has alienated a lot of people. To remain on a glidepath for success, therefore, Musk faces huge challenges in the years ahead. He must remain an agent of change and disruption, while not becoming an agent of chaos and distraction. He must avoid the path of Howard Hughes, an American aerospace engineer who half a century ago descended from magnificent entrepreneurship into eccentric madness. In the years ahead, SpaceX may need to raise billions of dollars more in private capital, which will require a Musk whom investors can trust and be inspired by. NASA and spaceflight regulators will want the reliable partner they have had for nearly two decades. As part of this, Musk must also find a capable leader after Shotwell leaves to help steady the steamroller. That’s a hell of a lot, and I ardently hope Elon succeeds.

Worse, he keeps fellating him, even in the context of Starship development, which, by the time this was written, had 6 or 7 very troubled sub orbital flights and the whole infrastructure around it was proven to be a giant waste of time and money exactly because Musk's dumb pedal to the metal method.
This is unquestionably because of Musk. Even today, when he steps away from SpaceX for an extended period of time to focus on Twitter or Tesla or Neuralink or AI or whatever, the work slows down. He can be a distraction, certainly, but he also remains the company’s essential and invigorative force. Musk accelerates progress by his presence and willingness to take responsibility. When he makes a consequential decision, he accepts the risk. In most other companies or government agencies, no senior manager wants to make difficult calls and be saddled with the consequences of failure. So they defer, studying a problem more or going through endless reviews and tests. Not Musk. He presses the “go” button. Sometimes the decision backfires spectacularly, but his willingness to accept the responsibility keeps things moving.

And this is the proof he knows nothing. The book is filled with examples of stupidity, abuse and narcissism and he can't link them to what happened to Twitter. What he wrote is proof that the company exists despite his best efforts, and he fails to understand it.
But I am worried about Elon. There is exactly one person who can stop the steamroller, and that is the same person who set it into motion and still has his foot pressed down to the floor, pedal to the metal. During the period in which I wrote Reentry, Musk purchased Twitter (renamed X) and in a matter of months destroyed much of its value. As I watched the immolation of $44 billion spent to acquire the social network, I struggled to square how the person who led SpaceX to such heights could subsequently make these seemingly poor decisions, driving users away from Twitter, flirting with antisemitism, and amplifying a lot of other bullshit that has infected American culture in the twenty-first century. More than once, I found myself asking, “What the hell are you doing, Elon?”

Let's examine this part! The guy straight up admits to being a Musk fan, and to being emotionally attached to the Vision™. In a way he's not that different from the DOGE kids, who knew nothing and wanted excitement.
For the sake of transparency, I will first tell a little bit about myself. I’ve had a lifelong interest in space. A fascination with the stars led me to study astronomy in college, which involves a lot of physics and calculus and precious little stargazing. None, actually. I went into a career writing about science because four semesters of calculus were enough math for me. After more than a decade as a middling science writer at the Houston Chronicle, I discovered SpaceX. Musk’s compelling vision for reusable launch and ultimately settling other worlds in the solar system captivated me. Hell yes, we should do this, I thought. This is the future I wanted. And this guy had a plan. I started writing about space with passion and developed a special interest in the commercial space revolution. A decade later I’m privileged to have written my second book on SpaceX and to possess a voice in the space industry.

The urgency and scope of Falcon 9 operations impressed Eymard, and he returned home with detailed assessments for his government. He captured the essence of what he saw in a simple term, rouleau compresseur. “We don’t know when it will arrive, but the steamroller is on the horizon, and when it arrives it’s going to be a real challenge for us,” Eymard said in a remark that was later reported by Paris-based space journalist Peter B. de Selding. In Florida, due to the sultry summertime air, Aschbacher traded his customary bright blue suit for slacks and a polo shirt. He mingled among other VIPs on the balcony of a NASA building with a splendid view of the launch site several miles away. Peering into the distance, Aschbacher could just make out a black-and-white rocket surrounded by four tall lighting towers. It started to vent puffy clouds of oxygen. Far above the Falcon 9, destiny beckoned.

The subhead about my "favorite" character doesn't event attempt to hide Berger's feelings towards him after their Twitter spats, which i was a witness. "Dmitry Rogozin seems like he sucks". Naturally, there are quotes of some of the dumbest things he's said.
“The share of launch vehicles is as small as 4 percent of the overall market of space services,” Rogozin said in an interview with a Russian television station in 2018. “The 4 percent stake isn’t worth the effort to try to elbow Musk and China aside. Payload manufacturing is where good money can be made.” After Russia’s invasion, the United States levied widespread sanctions, including on the aerospace industry. Rogozin’s response was apoplectic. Among other threats he made, Rogozin said, “If you block cooperation with us, who will save the ISS from an uncontrolled deorbit and fall into the United States or Europe? The ISS does not fly over Russia so the risks are all yours. Are you ready for them?”

For some reason, magical shit happens with Starliner's first flight description. Long story short, due to the MET issue the ship ended up in the wrong control mode, which made it continuously oversteer, which wasted a lot of fuel and overheated the thrusters...
In December 2019, as Crew Dragon’s parachute team raced through its final tests, Boeing flew Starliner for the first time. It did not go well. Due to a software problem shortly after launch, Starliner captured the wrong time from its Atlas V rocket. About ten minutes into its flight, Starliner’s “mission elapsed time” was off by eleven hours. Flight controllers also briefly lost contact entirely with the vehicle. Due to these problems, NASA did not allow Starliner to approach the space station. Then, shortly before its return into Earth’s atmosphere, a software mapping error nearly caused thrusters on Starliner’s service module to fire in the opposite direction.

We also get a glimpse at the problems with pad maintenance after launch, and one of them was stuff on the TE getting roasted. The next part is about getting the range to adapt to the high flight rate, but there's nothing really interesting in it.
The original strongback at the launch site retracted only about 12.5 degrees away from the rocket before liftoff of the Falcon 9. Carlisle’s solution pulled the strongback rapidly away from the rocket, and much farther, a full 45 degrees, to protect the umbilicals. In principle, this seemed simple. But in practice, it seemed an impossible task. At a quarter of a million pounds, the strongback had to move quickly. If it pulled back a second early, it would rip away the umbilical lines, stranding a fully fueled rocket with no connections. And if it were a second late, the strongback would just get toasted as usual. The kinds of hydraulic actuators needed for such a precise and powerful throwback did not exist in the United States, so Muratore’s team sourced them from Bosch Rexroth, a European engineering firm.
