Yes, this is frustrating! I know these Western-based influencers who claimed to be the ‘shark savior’. They came to Indonesian communities and made films using very unethical ways of exposing the fisheries. This was to feed audiences who are mostly privileged western folks…

Agree. Somebody mentioned ‘Racing Extinction’, which has some very problematic narratives. This dehumanization was very prevalent in the early advocacy of shark conservation. Finning is bad and I agree; it is now banned in country like Indonesia. But many fish sharks for foods/subsistence too..
