Earlier this week I came back from a short residential stay at @gladlib.bsky.social and it was just what I needed. Time to think, to read, to research, to write. 8k new words and 8 books read!

Had an amazing time at the British Library being amazed at all the incredible works of women in the Medieval era. As a Kempe head this was a particularly special one.

Just did my first session of the year with The Literary Consultancy as part of Write Plus - an amazing session with Zoe Richards on editing without overwhelm. At the moment they have the bargain of a year’s membership for £49 with the code 50Jan.

Started the New Year with Eggers’ Nosferatu! Surprising nobody, I absolutely LOVED it. There were a few weaker elements, but man. It felt like a real return to form. Equal parts delightfully horrifying and horrifyingly delightful. Definitely one to catch on the big screen if you can.

Spending a bit of time at the tail end of 2024 investigating a new project. How are you spending the end of the year?

I have a desk!! Of my own! Here’s to head space for projects! I’ve not had my own dedicated desk since… 2021 I want to say?
