When I work with clients in the sports space I ALWAYS start with the “why”. Fans want emotional attachment to stories. Too many front offices don’t invest in getting to know their talent’s stories and fail to adequately connect them with their fans.

for new teams: what’s the story behind your brand? what’s your why?
just generally, connecting with fans goes beyond the on court product. people wanna feel something. there should be an experience.
