It won the contest by delivering on the adventure theme and leaning into the novelty aspect of it. The name of the contest was Big Adventures after all. As for valve, it's anybody's guess. I personally think they saw it as a good experiment for their weekly missions and just liked the craziness.

@pataloon.bsky.social next game idea: a red clerk who maintains the steam user's backlog of games. Difficulty based on the amount of user's games they haven't played. Extra difficulty points if the games were bought on sale.
