Do not assume that the Trump-linked coins are investments in the same way Bitcoin is. The Trump coins are bribery instruments. People buy the coins to bribe Trump. He cashes in and returns a favor as a government decision. The coin loses value, but its purpose was fulfilled.

Yes, why not? No carbon emissions. Spent fuel storage is not as difficult or dangerous as it was made out to be. Molten salt reactors are highly efficient and safe, thorium is abundant, etc.
What are your concerns?

Limited to Justice Thomas, I think him being on a billionaire’s payroll disqualifies him from criticizing medical experts for being “on Pharma’s payroll”.

In MAGA ideology, the Meloni government is an ally because they fight against non-white immigration.
MAGA is a white backlash movement, the kind that pops up throughout US history whenever there is progress by non-whites.

IF Germany’s reliance on renewables is made possible by imports from the European grid (and I don’t know whether that’s the case) THEN the article is incomplete without adding in the imported energy. The imports can be split according to the EU energy mix and added to the respective 🇩🇪 categories.

Energy imports are not shown here. Could you please add those in, so we can understand whether Germany is importing “dirty power produced elsewhere” when intermittent renewables are not sufficient?

I don’t know if that is the case. But I want to know.

Perhaps some states can establish a voluntary association that will perform the same functions as FEMA, but only for the member states?
From what I understand, FEMA only coordinates local disaster response resources anyway?

It’s beautiful! How long does the bamboo last?

We need a triage board that will separate noise from substance (institutional decay). Hegseth raping a staffer / Musk giving a Sieg Heil are noise. Firing the Inspectors General, creating a crypto coin, threatening Denmark, shutting down the NIH - this is the threat. Is there one? I could curate one

Absolutely true: it is usually cheaper to cut corners on quality, or backups, or redundancy, etc. If compelled by regulation, companies comply. Otherwise, cutting corners becomes a competitive advantage.
What if your bank had no redundancy, or no backups? What if your food was not tested?

It is without a doubt the Nazi salute. But we are not bothered by him imitating AH’s salute per se; we are worried that he/they might imitate other aspects of Nazi ideology. Which ones? Not antisemitism. White supremacy, for sure. Immigrants in “deportation camps”, maybe. What else?

Would you consider charging a subscription fee, to avoid having to sell users’ data?
A platform must make money to keep the lights on. I pay for my lunch and everything else that is valuable to me. My privacy & ability to post on a non-shitty platform are important to me.

My provider (Arcadia) supplies solar power from a community solar farm in NJ and it’s already cheaper for me than the local utility. That’s today, not in the future.
Things might be different elsewhere. 🤷‍♂️

It’s good to mention that there are some alternatives to Portland cement

There have been studies of the TikTok algo. The WSJ did a good job a few months ago.

I am not making up the situation. I just sit at home and read the news (not through TikTok)
January 20, 2025 at 5:17 PM
Many people in the US get their news from TikTok, sometimes from “influencers”. This means that TikTok has taken over part of the role of newspapers or TV channels. It’s long been US policy to not let hostile foreign nations control US media.
It’s not just the privacy. It’s the coming Pacific war.

You probably don’t understand commies.
Mets will sell your data so that they can serve you better targeted ads.
China wants to break down US society so that they can call the shots.
You won’t enjoy it if it happens.
