By teaching our students more about the world we live in AS IT TRULY IS–not through the rose tinted lenses that so much of our curriculum is taught–our students will be better prepared to CHANGE it.

fill in the gaps with problem based learning based in critical pedagogy using real world issues in your local community.

That can take shape in a number of different ways, like looking at climate change data, identifying vulnerabilities in our communities and drafting proposals to our local gov'ts.

This next part will be difficult for those teachers in "right to work" states because your material conditions won't allow for it, but for those of us in teachers unions, we need to get more subversive NOW.
