It was only snowy there Banff, Canmore and Kananaskis were bone dry! (Which is also sad in its own right).

Despite an incredibly long day from 1030am to 11pm spent there, I'm grateful a) flu was all she had b) it didn't cost her anything to receive those services, and c) there are caring staff who work in challenging situs.

By 8pm my friend was feeling better thanks to the IVs and anti nausea meds usually used for chemo patients. But we couldn't get discharged to free up a spot till 11pm because the only 2 doctors there were dealing with 2 emerg codes and couldn't assess and release her. We need to empower RNs.

These 2 young kids were given the number for the 24/7 clinic, told to make an appointment with them, and told to take their beautiful but manic depressive mom home to watch over her. 😥 Such a heavy weight for 2 so young.

Then there was the story of the young 9yr old there with her mom who sat in a wheelchair. After 6+hrs they went into an exam room where the older brother joined (17-19?). At 10:30pm the doctor said their mom's tests had all come back clean...her troubles were mental health. A manic episode.
