If you served me this in a restaurant I wouldn't speak again until it was all gone. Holy fucking smokes man. I paid $115 to ship these two from a friend an Italy and it was worth it all just in that one can. The gelatin and the fat mixed so well. The biscotto crackers send this straight to the top.

beef medaglioni in gelatin: Steve described this as 'absolutely decadent' and it might be underselling it. This is the best beef I've ever eaten and it came out of a can. It came suspended in gelatin. The savory warmth of a pot roast entirely in a slider beef patty.

It's on par with the chicken noodle MRE main if you've ever had it, not a triumph but it certainly isn't mediocre went well with the crackers, which trounce any cracker I've had in my entire life. Sturdy enough to make it to me unbroken and not especially crumbly. Second to none, and its not close.

rice salad: watery but a bit thick, mostly dominated by a taste of chicken broth which is still pretty impressive, inoffensive in its balance of salt and savory. Normally I dislike olives but I couldn't find them at all! The rice was consistent, the carrots had presence and the chicken did as well.

the energy bar is just the bottom crust of a brownie with a lesser aftertaste of a protein bar or shake. Texture is great, no oil so it's a bit tacky and didn't want to let go of the wrapper. Not hard to chew through and not an overwhelming chalky texture. Well done! The best I've had, but only just

the white whale of every ration nerd. I'll save it for an appropriate occasion i think. The other mre is going to a friend. Im only posting about the supper, I'll enjoy the other two courses at my own leisure. Despite the best by date being July this year, nothing expires until April 2026. YMMV

the new type 40 ones don't, its normally powdered hot sauce. The old sack ones like the one in the picture do though, I have maybe 6 of the little guys

The nutrient bar was delightful, if you hydraulic pressed some vanilla wafers you'd be 90% there. The sun dried fruits were a little odd as they stuck the square pieces together.

All in all, very fucking good though. It would be miserable to eat on the go, unlike a US MRE. With preparation? 8/10.

This sweet smelling oil, on that note, was the main body of flavor. Two main ingredients were shiitake and bean curds. It seemed to almost drown out the pickled vegetables and even the mushrooms, where only a few morsels of either found my senses. Only the faintest bit of capsacin, which I enjoyed.

The rice had that disappointing consistency that you get by refrigerating and then reheating rice leftovers, the grains crumbled and revealed a dryness inside. The thing that kept them together on the spoon was the copious amounts of oil.
