Bondi Beach is what the consequences of Zionist colonization and genocide look like.

These acts of violence are not consequences of a so-called “religious war” nor are they simply out of “hatred of Jews.”

By aligning with dominant power, Israel uses Jews and the weaponization of antisemitism as tools in the expansion of its own and more broadly Western imperialist interests.

It is not shocking when this has real life consequences for Jewish people.

And over the past 26 months, the consequence of Zionist occupation has been escalated institutionalized torture, sexual violence against children, women and men, and the systematic mass murder of Palestinians.

For Palestinians, the consequences of Zionism have been over 77 years of brutal and deadly colonization, land theft, displacement, home demolitions and occupation.

It is not lost on us that the event at Bondi Beach was organized by an ultra-Zionist rabbi who openly celebrated the genocide in Palestine.

We should not be able to look at the Nazi Holocaust survivor killed in Sydney and not see the Palestinians who survived two years of nonstop bombardment in Gaza, only to be slaughtered while accessing food.

We should not be able to look at the 10-year old girl killed in Sydney and not see the tens of thousands of Palestinian children murdered in Gaza and the West Bank with bullets, bombs, and forced starvation.

The consequence of this conflation is Zionist impunity — an impunity that built a tolerance to the taking of human life at an individual and mass scale.

For over 77 years, Israel, Western governments and Zionist organizations have misrepresented Israel as a Jewish state — conflating Judaism and Zionism and leveraging this intentional misrepresentation to silence critiques of Israel as antisemitic.
