This is going to hit Uyghurs like a wrecking ball. Thousands of Uyghur refugees living in the US are "undocumented Chinese nationals." Many are given political asylum, others are in the process but have been left in limbo for years. If the asylum program is ended they could be deported to China.

While appointing Rubio and Waltz isn't the worst-case scenario, I'm not yet ready to breathe a sigh of relief. I'm reminded of Rory Truex's explanation of the strategic use of corruption in Chinese politics. Trump is nothing if not transactional and he has certain expectations of his cabinet.

From a profile on Mike Waltz, Trump's National Security Advisor. A reason to be hopeful that Ukraine gets what it needs? I'm not convinced. I expect that Waltz will be undermined, if not ousted by the likes of Musk and Don Jr. I also expect Trump to get bored of Ukraine like he did with Venezuela.
