As a collector and occasional player of TCGs your original premise is important to me. The gambling aspect is always top of mind and recognize it as a danger.

Loot boxes are an important comparison. Those are worse for me as the gambling rewards are digital.

To contrast TCGs with "living card games" that take the resale value out of the equation. No booster packs and still fun to play.

I do wish wizards and TPCi would ease up on the gambling aspect. 💯

Super important call out. It's easy to blur the lines of collecting and enjoying a rip against straight gambling.

Being excited about resale value is an easy indicator to rethink things, generally speaking.

But without resale value, would this be a conversation? Do the games die out?
