Oh no, I realize I could buy any old player on eBay, I'm looking for something to pop up in a thrift shop for $20, buying old electronics for hundreds of dollars is a risk that I'm not particularly keen on since I've been burned in the past taking a similar gamble on similarly aging hardware.

That's perfectly reasonable, and you're not the first person I've heard of collecting them for the same reason. 😄

This is a dangerous media rabbit hole to go down, I'm avoiding it until I can find a player, and in 15 years of searching, no dice. If I ever do though...I'm gonna be one broke bitch with a lot of killer old anime. 😅

They're the same scale as the 4" Nintendo figures. They scale well with those.
I need to compare them to some 1/18 stuff to see if they scale that way, but they feel slightly larger than that.
