For linen, I'm currently using frederix single primed and figuring out what treatment I like. A couple layers of clear acrylic seems the right direction for me. If you can get it Artefex 538 is incredible and needs nothing extra for a wonderful painting experience

For paper, I generally use oil paper. There are a few providers. I find it very absorbent and have to be in the right mood for that. For 'normal' paper I'll use paper designed for water media and then seal it with acrylic medium
