Toby, you once said that you don’t like grinding in RPGs, but… Isn’t the recruit system a form of grinding..? I think that this fact combined with how short battles can be, and how the mercy system is a bit obvious, can make battles feel perfunctory almost… At least mechanically

Yeah, just think there should be some more variation in how pacifying enemies works. Like in UT where some battles required you to touch something green in the bullet box. I also miss silly pointless attacks like migosp dancing or papyrus’ cool attack, idk.

That’s what I mean, I think the ACT option is mechanically the same and very obvious in most battles, you don’t even have to check enemies anymore, it’s often just: go to ACT menu, choose the obvious mercy option there, repeat twice to end battle. And there’s not much change in the battle screen…

Toby, if you read this somehow, don’t you think a lot of the battles kinda come down to just choosing the mercy option without having any different gameplay?
