3 joys from today.
1, someone said they were going to watch my sermon back to make sure they didn't miss anything
2, tasty pub Sunday roast with Matt
3, read 91 pages of my book, and watched 2 episodes of Fubar.

The tricky choice of the next book to read: something similar cos you're in an old people and mystery era or something completely different to not get your Pippa Allsbrook confused with your Elizabeth Best.

Today's one of those days I'm gonna hold on to the cliché that I don't know what the future holds but I know the one who holds the future.

Ministry has so many different things to hold. But being held in the hands of God sustains it all.

I'm readinv Just Friends by Gyan Yankovich as an audiobook atm.
This line...
"The more un-fun things I do with a friend, the closer to them I feel"
She's talking about people who help you to move house.
But wow the deep knowledge in this book on the importance of those people who journey with us!

Wonderful time at #SST25
Enjoyed talking about periods and lots of other theology of bodies stuff. Had time and food with lovely people and generally delving back into the world of academia for 3 days.

Now to sleep then holy week!

First day at #SST25 done.
Really interesting discussion this evening about eucharist, blood and trauma.
Also been sharing short paper fears with others presenting for the 1st time over the next 2 days.
Now just to read over my script & get a good nights sleep before the session at 4.35 tomorrow.

This is so tempting!
Introducing... Bert's Book Bench!

We're getting a new bench built to go outside the shop, and you can get your name - or the name of someone you love - included on one of the books.

Here's our prototype!

The moment of being 20 pages away from the end of a compelling book and not knowing if you want to race to finish it or savor it in the morning!

Ps anyone else read Joe with an E by Paul Rand? Such a clever premise and powerful characters I really care about.

Been accepted to share my short paper at sst based on some of the work from my dissertation!
Entitled Presiding on my period.
My word for 2025 is try.
Yesterday I was brave and submitted an abstract to sst so that this year can be the one I try to do a short paper at an academic conference.
I've done all I can do, now to wait to see if they accept it.

Can anyone direct me to any research done on how women authors write men in romance novels?

Thx

The awkward few hours where I've finished my last book (Alter Ego by Helen Heckety) and don't want to start a new one yet so it will count in the 2025 book count.

But completed book does mean I smashed my book target of 18 by starting and finishing 23 fiction books in 2024.

Today I love that my job is lead worship and eat turkey.

Question is though, how many people will make the dibley joke about how many christmas dinners I need to eat?

I dont really do resolutions but I do do hopes. And some of these have been years in the making but in 2024:
I hope (God willing) to be ordained.
I hope (motivation willing) to finish my MA
And I hope (if you are willing) to continue having the wonderful friendships I had in 2023.
