Trying my best to navigate #OUFC life in the Championship post Des Bucks. He’ll always be one of us. Yellows.

Football, cricket, music, movies & anything else that rocks my world
Exactly. This run in is going to be brutal but if we at least still had Des i’d have felt a bit more optimistic about the future either way.

This is v interesting & reinforces what i’ve been thinking and feeling… just so gutted that Des didn’t get an opportunity to turn it around with an easier run of fixtures, exactly as he did post bolton last season

Just one thing, the cardiff H win is in DB column when it should be in GRs.

A totally joyless experience. A few more of those and we’ll be wandering whether Des falling on his sword was really worth it. (i may already be there)

On the other hand if we can find the formula for the Blackburn performance again, all will be more than fine.

awful, if true.

this did make me laugh.

I can guarantee that i won’t be needing a new folder for all my Gary Rowett pics that’s for sure.

they do. Also it took a little while for them to replace those who had left (head of sports science and the analyst) for Des, at least they’ll be already there for the new guy.

that is a good way of looking at it 💛

That would have been desperately sad tho still not convinced it needed to be that way. In my mind he had another 3 seasons with us, leading us to the new stadium and eventually moving on with our thanks and best wishes to Prem Lg or England. I need to do less daydreaming obviously!!

I wish him nothing but the utmost success and happiness, one of the good guys and ‘one of us’. Incredibly hard to move on from that.
December 16, 2024 at 8:30 PM
exactly. It sounds like the new guy will have to do the same based on the line about the ‘fantastic experienced coaching staff already in place’

i sincerely hope the faith the board have in Ed and his recruitment proves to be correct.

But this is all feeling a bit hollow right now. A statement designed to placate the fans whilst making it clear that Des alone was the issue - he’d had all the support he needed.

Yeah not having it.
December 16, 2024 at 7:33 PM
i really hope it doesn’t come out that there were dressing room issues as i’m already feeling the connection that was built with the current squad diminishing a bit.

i remember Des mentioning Mous and others getting new deals and wandered if there was anything in it that we didn’t do the same for him.
i also wander whether he did in fact speak to Wales feeling that he was on relatively thin ice. but as you say, all speculation.
December 16, 2024 at 2:30 PM
i agree. i’ve listened to some of those old interviews and for somebody who was, at the time, pretty untouchable Des mentions being sacked a lot. he also says several times that he’ll stay ‘as long as he feels wanted’. Like they said on the Dub, i wander if they were ever truly sold.
December 16, 2024 at 2:28 PM
i’d normally have them on alert, right now i feel like muting them. (i do know it’s not admins fault!)
December 16, 2024 at 10:52 AM
very little gets in the way of my unconditional loyalty to OUFC but they are currently testing that in ways i hadn’t anticipated. The disrespect is unreal and right now im ashamed.
December 16, 2024 at 10:50 AM
Honestly the thought of that Ed goat meme makes me
feel sicker than i do right now. How has it all fallen apart so badly
