Weird pet parent thought of the day - I wonder what Lucinda’s cat ancestors were like in the ‘70s? The ‘20s? Victorian times?

I am excited to be teaching field methods again this spring! Now I need to update my list of ethnography monographs that students can select for their reporting.

Do you have any favorites, especially new favorites, that are about arts, culture, or entertainment (broadly)?

…and just this week I had one reach back out saying she had participated and asking why she hadn’t gotten a gift card yet. I triple checked to make sure, but it was one of the scammers!

They are relentless!
My interview study recruits online, and we have had *hundreds* of scammers try to sign up this year. It has been a massive pain to the point that I think I am going to write about how we identify them and maintain a research workflow around it without just shutting down recruitment altogether.

Excited to hear this coverage of work that Jennifer Novak-Leonard and I published last year on the NEA’s podcast!

Oh no. I just thought about the elapsed time since I last peer reviewed something, so I’ve probably got 10 hours tops until the next request rolls in.

Signed up for two writing retreats for 2024 during my semester of teaching leave. Feeling super grateful for the time, space, and funding to write my book but also now see on my calendar that it is time to write the thing 🍀
