Vassar’s local impact has definitely varied over the decades. They’ve bought up a lot of the local real estate in the last 20 years. When I went, there was a very well-defined separation.

When I was a grad student the dept office manager hired me for the 1st week of every semester. My job: sit at a desk blocking the door to the main office under a sign w/room & bathroom directions & tell students the info that was on the sign so they didn’t bother the office staff. Best job ever
