Currently reading this #book slowly. Will it help keep my brain lubricated? My first foray into math philosophy. I went down to New College in Sarasota around 1987 & dropped acid with a guy into #fractals. Seemed appropriate since they are rather psychedelic looking. That was it til this book.

I was thinking of tea. I’m not a big fan of coffee. #Tea otoh is fantastic! I have boxes & boxes of tea bags. A flavor for any mood. So many to help with a complaint or ailment. And just plain old black tea for iced. Sometimes mint in that too. My husband only drinks the one for treating a cold. 🤷‍♀️

I just discovered what I have been doing in the back yard is akin to something called #rewilding I am due to get my first Tallamy book today. Wonder if there’s a group advocating rewilding in #Wichita #Kansas. It remains for me to find the like-minded. Figuring out what is native feels daunting.

LeafSnap is telling me this is Sea Aster. A lot is growing in the lawn rn. Late season #bloomscrolling in #Wichita #kansas Happy Sunday y’all!
Sea Aster flowers in the green lawn. They are quite small. Yellow in the center with many narrow petals. The petals are purple-ish toward the end and white in the middle. Some are just white. More Sea Aster flowers in the grass. Detailed in the other pics ALT text

The Common five-ring (Ypthima baldus) is a butterfly in India/asia. Not super flashy, but one of my faves. If it doesn’t remind you of Miyamoto Musashi you need to get out more. 😉 #butterfly #inverts 🦋

Today was starting to dry out from recent rain & as I sat out back with my breakfast I saw this HUGE web. It’s approx 3 ft across at the main circle & the support strands reach up to a tree, the top of the shade cloth, & down to the grass. No spider seen yet. 🕸️🕷️ #spider #wichita #kansas #inverts
Massive orb weaver web in my back yard. Strands gleam in the sun with greenery in the background. Has a little hollow in the center & no stabilimentum. Afraid to get too close to find the actual spider because the supporting strands reach so far. It’s a bit amazing no bird has flown thru it yet. Wow, some little spider produced a ton of silk and spent a lot of time on this masterpiece!

Leaf snap is telling me Siberian Elm. My most hated weed. Tons of sprouts of this coming up in the garden. Look at the root from hell! #plant #wichita #elm. It’s in the gardens with the bulb plants so trying to avoid digging up the iris & lily bulbs too.
Elm sprout we dug up from the garden. Huge fat root. My most hated weed. Elm sprout leaves. Leaves are rounded at the base & come to a point. The leaf edges have a serrated look. Evil stuff as far as I’m concerned! 😉
