We love to talk about "win-win-wins" in conservation, but are they really possible? Our new open-access paper explores this question for birds, climate, and people in the US:

Valdivian coastal rainforest magic: ancient Alerce trees (Fitzroya cupressoide), a cypress native to southern Chile (one of the oldest trees in the world is an Alerce), "Estrellita" (Asteranthera ovata), an evergreen scrambling vine native to Chile, and Chilean hazelnut (Gevuina avellana)

Visited Khao Yai National Park in Thailand yesterday and saw many "lifer" species, including Malayan porcupines, pig tailed macaques and sambar deer. Thanks to conservation efforts many species including tigers are growing (news.mongabay.com/2024/07/thai...) @thewcs.bsky.social 🌏

My dog makes sure I get outside every day, even when it's cold and the days are short. What tips do you all have for coping with long winters?

A wise professor once told us to remember to spend time "in the office" (aka in nature). Trying to live by his advice, no matter the weather. 🌏

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm thankful for friends, family, food and furry companions. Remember not everyone has a traditional family to spend the holidays with so please reach out to your loved ones, invite friends and neighbors to share a meal, and consider volunteering or donating to your community

Spending a few days learning and getting inspired by hundreds of TNC and partner scientists who are solving climate and conservation problems with social science, spatial planning, governance, finance, human rights based approaches, and creativity. With occasional breaks to enjoy Mexico City. 🧪🌏

I spent the evening canning spotty, gnarly but delicious pears from a tree in our backyard. I love living somewhere I can grow and have access to local food.

#WCS and municipal governments recently partnered on a 3 day marine spatial planning training in Siquijor, Philippines. It's a magical island (literally, tradition says the island has healing powers) and local governments and fishing communities are keen to conserve their coal reefs and way of life.
