In the thirteenth century, Dervorguilla of Galloway, co-founder of Balliol College, Oxford, commissioned Sweetheart Abbey in Scotland in memory of her late husband. Later, she was laid to rest there with his heart between her hands as an enduring testament to their lifetime love 🫶

Loved seeing Anne Desmet’s gorgeous wood engravings at Guildhall Art Gallery yesterday. My favourites were these twisting Tudor chimneys and the atmospheric prints of St Paul’s. On display until 12th Jan.
