She was so genuinely supportive and encouraging. She has been an icon in conservation and research. I really can't believe she has passed. But her legacy and work continues. Thank you for everything you have done Jane Goodall.❤️❤️

I served as the Roots and Shoots lieson. Through Zoo Teens, I had the honor and privilege of meeting Jane twice at the Wildlife Conservation Expo in San Francisco. She was so generous with her time, kind, and just as eager to hear what we were doing as we were to talk with her.

Now I may be focused on birds, but the spirit of many of those questions - to get into their minds and see the world in their perspective, to appreciate that biological kinship - it's still there. In high school I volunteered with the Sac Zoo's Zoo Teen program, a chapter of Roots & Shoots.

Her careful and insightful work fundamentally changed how we view our closest relatives, and really all of the animal kingdome. She was the champion of conservation in our time. When I was a kid I wanted to work with chimps, of course how could I not with her incredible story and discoveries.
