One of the friends I went to TFA with said that Kylo Ren killed Han Solo because he "wanted power" and I had to bite my tongue to stop myself vehemently disagreeing and going full defence mode 🙃

LOOK AT THAT FACE!!!

The Force Awakens in Concert at the Royal Albert Hall was a truly special experience. The score is so stunning, and only gets richer and more resonant with age. The orchestra did a superb job, and really nailed the grandeur (Kylo's theme!) and poignancy (Rey's theme!) of John Williams' compositions.

I love autumn. Definitely the most beautiful season 🍁

This Han-Ben interaction is great and clarifies an aspect of TFA that many viewers misunderstood - Kylo didn't kill Han because he hated him, but because he loved him. He desperately wanted to believe that he'd find peace and strength by destroying what he loved. Instead, that choice haunted him.

I was most frustrated by Mia Goth's Elizabeth, who's put into the middle of a love square ft Victor, Victor's brother and the creature. This becomes hopelessly convoluted, and reduces her to a pretty thing to be coveted more than a fully rounded character. (Her gowns are fabulous, though.)

I enjoyed del Toro's FRANKENSTEIN while also feeling frustrated by many of its choices. It suffers badly from bloat and self-indulgence, loudly proclaiming its own themes and eradicating much of the novel's moral complexity. Isaac goes full camp and is very fun; Elordi is heartbreaking.

This is both funny and deeply cutting. There's some level of tragic predestination in the boy who couldn't be bothered to learn history growing up to become the leader of a fascist regime drunk on nostalgia for the Empire.

(From Han Solo: Hunt for the Falcon, #3.)

I find it hilarious that this guy appeared in Rogue One for like 30 seconds and now has a whole EU built up around his weird af machinations. Like wtf do you mean he's a head in a bowl tormenting Kylo Ren.

I went to the Labyrinth Experience convention in High Wycombe today and it was such a lovely way to celebrate one of my favourite films! The creativity on display was so inspiring, and it was especially cool to meet a bunch of the puppeteers (Louise Gold was a truly excellent sport!).

There's a lot of enraging information in this article, but this paragraph is probably the most maddening. The excuse about the execs not understanding how Ben Solo could be alive is officially dead in a ditch.

The (free!) Frankenstein exhibition at Selfridges is fantastic - it beautifully captures the luxuriant production design. It was such a surprise treat to see the rare first editions (I think my favourite thing in the whole exhibition was the presentation copy Mary Shelley dedicated to Lord Byron!).

I've been seeing a lot of chatter re. this quote from the AP article: "Driver had undertaken the trilogy with an arc in mind for Ren that inverted the journey of Darth Vader."

People have been interpreting this as a reverse Anidala type thing, when it's the opposite. Let me explain.

I finally found the source of this! I know some may deem me a masochist, but I would be fascinated to see a longer cut of TROS.

You wait years for new Ben Solo content only to get the VFX body scan and 'The Hunt for Ben Solo' revelations on the same day 😭

Watched Father Mother Sister Brother today and enjoyed it greatly - very warm, funny and humanistic. It's a highly authentic depiction of the fundamental unknowability of our parents. Adam was very good as Jeff, vulnerable and subtlely haunted by an unspoken past.

I can't get over how stunning Rachel Zegler was at the Annual Academy Museum Gala last night. That colour is pure perfection.

They have a neat mini exhibition of props and costumes from Wicked: For Good at BFI Southbank, and it's well worth checking out. I particularly liked seeing Glinda's dress up close - the sparkle is unreal!

I just finished up a lovely long weekend on the Isle of Wight and would appreciate good vibes in support of my bid to win this astonishingly gorgeous crocheted Cthulu. I need him to be mine.

Had a fantastic time at the Knives Out screening w/ Rian Johnson Q&A. Nia DaCosta was an excellent moderator and the discussion was fascinating - I was particularly interested to hear how personal Finn's storyline in TLJ was to Rian (he compared it to his own experience of leaving religion).

Was on Oxford Street last night so was fannishly obligated to go and check in on Reylo at the Disney Store. Both as iconic as ever.

Had a blast at the Ridley Scott Q&A at the BFI - he's breathtakingly egotistical, but so intensely sincere that he's likeable. Highlights:

- praising his own films at every opportunity
- calling Pauline Kael a bitch (twice!)
- recalling Orson Welles drinking pepsi cola and eating chocolate cake
