Gee, I remember when there were like a thousand furries in the whole world, and almost all of us could be accommodated in just one modest-sized airport hotel.

What's also trippy is that doesn't seem like it was really all that long ago. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not defending this at all, but it pales in comparison to Truman's complete gutting of the White House interior in 1949-51.

When I finally got a LaserDisc player (which also played CDs) on 4 March 1991, this was the very first CD I ever listened to. And, as you can see, I actually kept the longbox! PS: I just found out via Discogs that this is the 1986 US CD release of TDSOTM, even though I bought it new in 1991. Neato!

My first CD - What is yours?

I know... bor-ing. Purchased 25 Jan 1991. Two things about that: 1) yes, I was a way-late adopter of CDs, and 2) I bought this particular CD before I even had a way to play it! Same with my 2nd CD: soundtrack to Ken Burns' "The Civil War." That's pretty boring, too!

Me, too! I did my own drawing a long, long time ago. Not very good, but not too bad, either. ^^

Yeah, I actually had to get the money from my dad to buy my 512K. No way I could afford it on my own! Here's what my workstation looked like later on when I had my SE/30, though that's my 512K in this photo I took when I sold my "Mac Station" on eBay. Quite the setup, wasn't it? ^^

Still a Mac user to this day, though I haven't bought a new piece of Apple hardware since my first iPod in 2006. Current main box is a 2011 iMac running Sierra, with a 2018 Mac mini for apps that require a more up-to-date OS. But even now I can boot natively into OS9 with my 2004 G4 tower. ^_^

This Quadra 660AV was my first internet computer, purchased in early 1994. It was my introductory gateway for email, telnet, Usenet and mucking. The Quadra was also my business computer in my plush retail store in 1999-2000. Both computer and store are long gone, though, alas.

I wrote my masters thesis and compiled the legendary Tiny Toon Adventures Superchart on my Macintosh SE/30, with its ginormous 80MB internal HDD. Acquired in 1989, it's no longer operational, but for sentimental reasons, I've thus far been unwilling to part with it.

A bit overexposed, but this shows my first computer workstation in my first apartment. Judging by the books I see, this was taken Spring Quarter of 1986: my first year in grad school. (I still use the same computer table and mousepad today! And I still have the chair, too!)

OTD 40 years ago, I bought my first computer. And I still have it! Four decades later, both my Macintosh 512K and its external floppy disk drive remain in fully operational condition. It's practically a museum piece! (Like me!) ;)
