Yeah the two arguments you give as examples are not valid, they’re just dismissals. People have to convince one another of the importance of their concern or agree to see the importance as different but valid for the other person and to pursue their own ideals.

Prioritising other things is not apathy though, it’s a values difference.

Those seeking discussion need to remember the other person may not have understood the importance of the knowledge gap, and even after the discussion may not agree it is important to them.
