I'm a guy with #Big5 results of #Openness 50%, #Conscientiousness 46%, #Extraversion 4%, #Agreeableness 25%, & #Neuroticism 92%.
Unfortunately, this would require a constitutional amendment.

In some areas there may be by-elections but the only thing on my ballot, which I've already mailed in, is a local milage to fund the school district.
Either you need to check the calendar (federal general elections are in even years) or target your message better.

There's an American citizen who has been detained by ICE twice. He's already suing. I wonder if it'll become a class action?

Since most facial recognition technology was initially tested on its developers, who _tended_ to be white males, it historically failed on women and people of color. It's better now but not to the point where you should trust it above all other evidence.

Newsom has already stated that California is suing the US government over this action.

The short notice is because the federal subsidies expire at the end of the year but open enrollment starts November 1st. The insurance companies aren't going to eat the cost so, they need to inform their customers about the price increase.

After reading other comments, the fact that I was beaten to this idea repeatedly shows it's viability.

One wouldn't even have to go full on "pack the court" mode. Just have Congress pass a law stating that the number of SCOTUS justices shall be equal to the number of circuit courts with one added if the number of circuits is even. That would push us up to 13 right now.

Democratic states gerrymandering the other way like how California is doing in response to Texas.

While hard to enforce, general strikes are illegal in the US. You can only strike as a negotiating tactic with your own employer.
Realistically, they'd probably arrest the leaders of any such action and wait out the rest of us. Most Americans are only a couple missed paychecks away from destitution.

Have a look at their license plates.

General strikes are illegal in the US. Though I have no idea how it would be enforced. Also, with the number of Americans within one paycheck of homelessness, I don't know how you'd do it. I'm not there but, looking at my fridge, I couldn't go without shopping for more than a day or so.

I'm no Newsom fan but California did sue the federal government concerning the guard deployment in LA and won at the appellate level (after already winning in the district court) just before Labor Day. The legal process is slow but steady (as long as SCOTUS doesn't screw it up).

Based on a simple search, 44 states give their executive some kind of partial veto power. I guess it's not as uncommon as I thought. I still remember when a federal line item veto was created and ruled unconstitutional. I'm surprised that the state ones have withstood scrutiny.

You can't appeal discovery. The judge avoided that possibility with this order.

Guess which part of the government is in charge of arresting and imprisoning people charged with criminal contempt. The DoJ. No judge wants to give an order they know will be disobeyed. The goal here seems to be giving the government enough rope to hang themselves.

Do you need that even if you've been issued a passport before? My post was about a renewal, where your current passport provides evidence of citizenship and name changes.
March 20, 2025 at 5:22 PM
If it expired less than five years ago, the only documents you need to submit are the currently expired passport and the renewal form.

One of my senators (both confirmed no votes) posted that the Senate phone system is overloaded about two hours ago.
