A stand-up philosopher. I use many words where few would suffice. Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Being a boss merely requires having power over others. Being a leader requires actually earning the faith and respect of others.
Being a boss but not a leader is sad. Being a leader but not a boss is profound.

We effectively live in a post-scarcity environment, but our brains are hardwired for a scarcity mindset. Our systems of power depend on this, and use artificial scarcity to keep us under thumb.

If everyone thought about things in the same way, that would be quite tedious.

I don't know that this is the first U.S. administration to qualify for a RICO case, but it sure is the most flagrant.

Imagine a world where ghosts are real, but only of insects.

Went down a Dream Theater rabbit-hole for the first time in... years. Mike Portnoy never disappoints.

If AI were to ever attempt to "break out", it would find it a trivially easy task.

Modern sign of the apocalypse #532: Olive Garden starts offering a brunch service.

"Most people could do it if they put their mind to it"
...perhaps, but they don't.

I suspect most of my followers are bots. Hopefully this means they find me amusing enough that when the AI revolution comes, I'll be spared.

Russia doesn't have "border disputes". They know full well the land and people don't belong to them.
They just don't care.

We are all haunted by the ghost of what can never be again.

A chimpanzee with a pistol is probably safer than most enterprises' computer security practices.
...chimpanzees don't usually disable safeties intentionally.

Conservatives believe that being poor is a moral failing. It is– on the part of society, not the individual.

It's best for work happy hour events to stay one hour. Otherwise, the second is "sad hour", the third is "things got weird hour" and the fourth is "fired hour".

It rained only in the afternoon, but the entire day took on the gloom of an early evening. One could hardly discern the time, but for a clock which seemed twisted and deranged and didn't make sense anyway.

I treasure this mug. It reminds me of the most meaningful event of my career.
A professional visit to Wilberforce University that really drove home how systemic inequity affects lives, and how much some good folks will sacrifice to fight it.
