However, Thanksgiving is a slasher that is a worthy addition to the holiday horror genre. It's got plenty of homages to classics that came before it, and some really fun kills.

It sure is something-- written in 6 days and shot/edited in 9, it exudes a level of "theatre kid"/"student film" energy that I didn't necessarily dislike.
It did not fucking take place in 1962.

It was a slow start for me; at first I wasn't entirely enjoying it, but I ended up coming around during the second half of the film.

And man, it has everything I love in a movie- vampires, camp, wild, grotesque practical effects, and a lot of layers to it to sink my teeth into (no pun intended).

Overall mediocre story. Good setup, interesting inspiration taken from folklore, some solid effects work, and a score co-written by Slash.
Definitely not the best performances from the actors, but entertaining enough.
