I don’t know where you’re getting that having rivals is a “cultural” thing in Pokémon. It’s just the format of how the games play.

Yea I understood what you meant. It is a bit odd the rival HAS to be the opposite, but Pokémon has been declining in quality recently anyways with small details in graphics and such being ignored. They have probably just been rehashing the previous game with a new skin over it honestly 😔.

I understand what OP was saying originally but the rival thing I believe is a integral part of the game and how it’s always been a part of the story. They could definitely fix it up though.
