I am retired and living on the Oregon Coast with my wife and two pooches. I would be considered a heretic according to the ultra right wing of the American Christian Church, but that’s okay. I love God. I love Jesus and I love others. Matthew 5-7
Trump’s presidency is an appropriate judgement on those Christians who chose political power over trust in God. In essence they are openly rejecting God. We will all stand before God on Judgement Day, but for those cross wearing hypocrites, let their judgement be like that of Judas the Betrayer.

Most presidents formalize treaties between allies. This president is seeking new allies (from enemies) and making “deals” like he’s buying real estate, a corporation, or a new car. Pretty alarming that Iran is one of those “deals” he’s thinking about.

The UK aptly describes tRump, but please note that even though this lump of organic material was elected, more than half the country’s citizenry is embarrassed and appalled.

There are those of us (myself included) who reject and resist the the right wing evangelical ideology of Christian Nationalism. How long before the White House begins to censor and eliminate those who teach Jesus’ words as opposed to preaching the party line from the pulpit? Not long, I’m afraid.

As I watch Bonhoeffer (2024), it’s hard not to miss the parallels between American Evangelicalism under Trump and German Evangelicalism under Hitler right down to the Trump Bible and the Nazi Bible. Hitler had Ludwig Muller over the German Church and Trump has Paula White over the WH Faith Office.

If Trump critics are muzzling themselves for fear of reprisals from this unhinged dictator, how is this not a revival of Hitlerism in America today? He and his followers ARE the enemy within.

I watched soon to be Prime Minister, Mark Carney’s victory speech today. Never have I been so ashamed of the US and so proud to stand with Canada against the new Axis of Evil (USA/Russia). Six words that should never be said of us: “We can no longer trust America.” —Mark Carney

I came across a term I had never heard before during my morning devotions. The term is “slacktivism” meaning one shares outrage over an issue but actually doesn’t do anything about it. Guilty as charged. I need to step up more.

I'm critical of Christianity* because I'M a Christian, I take my faith & my Bible seriously, and what I see right now in America looks nothing like the Jesus I encounter in the Gospels.
(* = primarily conservative white evangelical Christianity)
I will never apologize for living a Beatitudes-inspired life. On that hill I would gladly give up my life. And I’m almost certain, at least some of the executioners would be Christian extremists holding a Trump Bible.

The good news about this Trump/Musk “love fest,” is that His Highness doesn’t do very well in the Number 2 spot. Look for those bedfellows to break up soon.

It feels like the bad guys won. It feels like the Teflon Kings will never face justice. It feels like they’re getting away with doing harm to others with no care, whatsoever. But, read 2 Peter 2. There will be a day. And their consequences will be far worse.
