I don't recall any particular relationship between Galadriel and Aulë being described other than that she was part of the Noldor and that they learned from him in a general sense. Is there a reference for that?

Even if the comparison was a fair one (which it isn't), that would still implicitly mean they think "cancelling" someone or something is a process that is bad and wrong when other people do it but perfectly fine when they do it. Even the most charitable interpretation still shows hypocrisy.
