I agree that nothing is perfect, I don't think either mindset is healthy at all. I've just had a much harder time being positive in a sea of hate than critical in aggressive positivity.

In my experience, it leads to a doom spiral in discussions of the Thing, where positive discussion is weeded out, or anything positive has to be prefaced with "I know this Thing has a lot of problems but I really enjoyed (blank)". I think it's easier to be negative in positive space than vice versa.
