can you elaborate on what you mean by this? Because Touhou has a pretty evenly split fanbase, and absolutely nothing in the official material is really 'pandering' at all. You don't mean that touhou has an 'obviously skuzzy fanbase,' right?

3.999999999 Pokemon Festival of Champions (Doujin)

A little cornball in the way a lot of Pokemon fanwork tends to be but it's got a really good sense of humor to balance it out, so a lot of the emotional beats land. And the art improvement's as it goes is really impressive.

3.9 Akane Banashi

It's not finished yet so not counting it fully but this is one of the best things Jump's put out in like a decade+. Great use of typical shonen beats to talk about rakugo as an artform, fun lead, good characters, great art/expression work. Highly recommend

3. Pokemon: Power of Us
Cute movie. Unlike a lot of Pokemon movies the original characters are actually pretty charming and memorable. Middle portion drags a little, but the climax is strong. Also one of the main characters is a gyaru with an eevee so points for that.

2. Slow Loop
Great Kirara series, there's a conversational, breezy tone between the leads. The way it handles the dead dad stuff is great too, its brought up casually without being made a big deal of too often. It gives it texture without being overbearing.

1. Hell Screen
I love the conversational tone a lot of old novels are written in. Some truly funny asides in this for how dark the story obviously is. Also a quick read.
