Tags can be pretty small these days, and are just part of the label. I’ve had the alarm go off when I’ve self scanned a good quality steak, which hasn’t had the tag deactivated at a till. But too expensive/ time consuming to tag everything (milk, chocolate bars, value brand peas etc)

We get a fair few birds on our feeders. Great tits, starlings and goldfinches mostly, but we do get the occasional parakeet, which are surprisingly common around London.

8 hours+ in economy, trying to get some sleep is every reason to try to be comfortable.
An hour to Amsterdam, I might agree with you, but I think you are forgetting the large portion of society that just wear joggers at all times, flying has nothing to do with it.
