📊 Bridging and linking social capital help avoid informal employment but don’t ensure job stability. Making the distinction between hierarchical and non-hierarchical bonding social capital, we find that hierarchical bonding (i.e. vertical ties) is linked to lower chances of precarious employment.

🌍 Young people in southern European countries experience difficult transitions between training and employment. In these countries, leaving aside training and work experience, the support of personal networks (i.e. social capital) is particularly important in young people’s access to employment.
